Iron Stake does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. This page explains that commitment and how to contact us about it.
"Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" is a California construct. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, businesses that fall within the statute and that sell personal information, or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, must display a link with that name and provide a working way to opt out. Several other state privacy laws now require something similar in substance, usually framed as an opt-out of sale or of targeted advertising.
It is worth being precise about what "sell" covers, because it is broader than money changing hands: under the California definition it reaches disclosures of personal information to another business for other valuable consideration, which is why so many ordinary advertising and analytics arrangements turn out to be sales.
Honestly: no — and we would rather write that than imply a compliance posture we have not earned.
The California statute reaches for-profit businesses doing business in California that meet at least one of three thresholds: annual gross revenue above roughly $25 million (the figure is adjusted periodically); buying, selling or sharing the personal information of 100,000 or more California consumers or households in a year; or deriving 50% or more of annual revenue from selling or sharing personal information.
Iron Stake is in launch testing and does not have an arrangement under which personal information is sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising. The company must reassess which state privacy laws apply as its users, revenue and operations change.
Because the promise came first. "No paywall · No lead forms · No sold data" is on the front page of this site and "your data is never sold" is in the app. A footer link is the most legible place to stand behind that, and people look for it there.
Because Iron Stake does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is no separate advertising opt-out switch to apply. Privacy requests can still be made by email.
If Iron Stake ever crosses a threshold, or ever does anything that counts as a sale or a share, this page stops being an explanation and has to become a mechanism.
